The moving date is approaching. What is the first and foremost thing that you need in order to start packing? Besides organizing the household items and taking care of utilities, you need moving supplies. While it is not a bad idea to pick up some boxes from nearby grocery stores, there is actually more to it than just boxes.
Movers. Unless you have a big truck and plan to do everything from the scratch, you need to contact and talk to the movers. Consult for fee, any helpful tips and dangerous items that cannot be moved.
Bubble and styrofoam peanuts. They are lifesavers. Considering all the time your boxes will spend on the road inside a moving truck, these little helpers are essential at absorbing shock and preventing breakage.
Mattress covers. During moving, if your mattress is not protected well, you will have to deal with dust ridden mattresses when you unpack.
Moving blankets. These are very convenient to use to cover up large furniture such as drawers. If they are not covered, you will have to clean them up after moving is done with dusters and vacuum. You will have more than enough on your hands already and certainly can do without an extra dosage of labor.
Packaging tapes and markers. They are so essential that you cannot pack anything without them. If there’s extra time, give an extra tone of support by wrapping packing tape on the corners of the moving boxes. It will prevent them from any possible tearing. Markers are necessary to mark on the boxes what is inside. Check if your marker gets erased when they are put on the packing tape; if so, write on the paper and avoid the taped area.
Boxes. They are the ultimate archetype of any moving or packing. If you have saved up the original package boxes for the items, it’s best to use them. It is especially true for electronics and dishware. Fragile items require extra care with stuffing and plain, regular boxes can suffer tears.
